Maxwell Trzcinski, Ph.D.
About Me
My therapy practice is focused on providing collaborative and compassionate psychotherapy services to adults and couples interested in reducing distress, conflict, suffering and enhancing personal growth, vitality, connection, and care for self and others. My approach to psychotherapy relies on the implementation of effective and research-based approaches to facilitate changes that last.
As a result of extensive training and clinical experience, I developed a specialty in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). My style as a therapist is informed by my values of curiosity, science, and collaboration; therefore, I make an intentional effort to co-create a therapy experience that considers my client's preferences, goals, values, identity, and competencies.
My areas of specialization include assisting my clients with the following concerns: Depression, Anxiety, Stress Management, Burnout, Loneliness, Work-Life Balance, Career and Professional Development, Relationship Issues, Communication Skills, Midlife Challenges, Life Transitions (i.e., Career Change, Divorce, Relocation, Becoming a Parent, Loss, Retirement, and Empty Nest), and Athletic Performance.
In addition to providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples, I find considerable value in supervising pre and post-doctorate psychology students pursuing licensure. I especially enjoy providing a collaborative and supportive environment for trainees to develop clinical acumen and personal style as a skillful psychotherapist. We are often interested in adding energetic, curious, and hard-working students to our practice. If interested, please reach out drmaxweltrzcinski@gmail.com.
I am happy to call San Diego home. I love living in San Diego for many reasons, including San Diego's proximity to the Pacific Ocean the international border with Mexico, as well as expansive outdoor spaces. When I am not working, I enjoy playing golf, endurance running, cooking, collecting jazz records, learning about electric vehicles, reading about history, and exploring the outdoor and culinary offerings of San Diego with my wife and two daughters.
